MIKS Dance Theatre

Under the joint artistic direction of Anaïs Bouts, Sara Lindström and Ida Uvaas, MIKS is a vehicle for artists to create work collectively, challenging conventional ideas about ownership and style in theatre and choreography. Exploring the edge of performance-making, MIKS create work which is stimulating, communicative and entertaining.

As resident artists at Greenwich Dance since 2009, MIKS have created We’re Working On It, an installation performance displaying a collection of performative situations involving text, bodies, a loop sampler and balloons. In the Autumn 2009 they were co-commissioned by Greenwich Dance and Laban Theatre to create [FEVER], a collaboration with four other European dance artists. As part of BIG Dance 2010 they are creating As The Crow Flies, a site-specific performance with a group of older people in Greenwich. MIKS are also involved in community dance work, including a dance film in collaboration with Roswitha Chesher for Men’s Health Week filming men dancing in their work place.

"A talent to watch."
Donald Hutera, Time Out

MIKS are currently researching a new project with the manipulation of time structures, duration, repetitive speech, associations of ideas, dissociation, lists, black eyed peas, marine drills, sex, nonsense and who knows what... commissioned and supported by the Laban Theatre. The piece will premiere in Autumn 2011.

MIKS are travelling to Mexico in April to participate in Performatica (www.performatica.org), an international forum for choreography and performance, where they will facilitate laboratories and workshops, as well as perform "We're Working On It".
