Luca Silvestrini’s Protein: Border Tales

“A big, brave, cacophonous attempt to picture multicultural Britain today” “Excellently performed by a multi-talented, international cast” - Judith Mackrell, The Guardian.
Treated with Protein’s trademark physical and verbal wit, the sell-out hit Border Tales comments on identity and multi-cultural living in the UK, based on the lives of its outstanding international cast. Luca Silvestrini turns his sharply satirical gaze to stereotypical thinking, tolerance and where lines are drawn between “them” and “us”.
Experience this engaging blend of dance, dialogue and live music up close, as the audience surrounds the stage from all sides.
Protein is a resident artist at Greenwich Dance and is a Yorkshire Dance Partner. Luca Silvestrini's Protein formed in 1997 and currently one of the most distinctive voices in British dance theatre. Protein uses a blend of original choreography, humour and music to entertain and provoke audiences.
Commissioned by Bath Dance, ICIA Bath, DanceEast, DanceXchange, DIGM Urban Moves International Dance Festival and The Place. Funded by Arts Council England and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. Supported by modul-dance and the Culture Programme of the EU, Greenwich Dance, Yorkshire Dance, The Place Choreodrome, Trinity Laban, British Council and in co-production with tanzhaus nrw in the frame of modul-dance.
