Dance artists Thomas Goodwin and Petra Soor are working with an intergenerational cast of local people to create this site-specific dance, celebrating this beautiful green space in the heart of the city.

The Big Dance Walk is an inclusive, free event and is signed into British Sign Language.

Drawing on English and global folk traditions, a group of travelling Players arrives to animate Greenwich Dance’s ballroom with stories told through live music, dance and song.
 
This intergenerational work celebrates the rituals of life re-invented for our times: the transition from child to adult, departure and reunion, loss and remembrance, and the celebration of declared love. 

Non-professional dancers aged 7-70+ perform alongside professional artists.

A Kate Flatt Projects and Watford Palace Theatre Production in association with Greenwich Dance and English Folk Dance and Song Society.

Award-winning comedian Tom Roden (from New Art Club) will compere this social event for all ages. Bring your own picnic for a tea-time treat with table service, a live band and a feast of London’s best dance talent.

Featuring Matthias Sperling’s ‘Do Not Be Afraid’, a humorous and deadly serious superhero duet, a hula-hooping extravaganza from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Hoop La La plus local acts from Greenwich, Lewisham, Bromley and Bexley – our Big Dance boroughs.

Enjoy an intimate performance, followed by the chance to discuss your thoughts with the artist over a drink.

This month features Delve Dance plus Sophie Arstall and Michele Panegrossi.

Delve Dance Company present their new site specific work in collaboration with Sussex based choreographer Chloe Hunter.

Chloe's work is inspired by phenomenology, contact movement and collaboration. In her most recent work she has explored phenomenological themes such as embodiment, experience and perception and how they can be integrated within a choreographic process. Delve Dance Company, founded by Laura Erwin in 2011, is a repertory company based in London. An enthusiastic and passionate group of four dancers who work with a range of collaborators including choreographers, musicians, designers and photographers to create a diverse range of dance works.

“Our conceptual journey has begun by looking at the way we build our own identity in life and the way in which we present ourselves to the external world, being it society, our friends or even ourselves. We are concerned with how we employ repetitive behaviours and patterns to achieve a feeling of familiarity. The image that we find most appropriate to visualize this process is the spiral: it could seem that we are stuck in a loop, but the experience we gain after every round projects us onto a different plane, allowing us to constantly move forward. As a periodic movement of compression and decompression we constantly verify and reassess our choices, retracing our pathways to achieve a higher level of awareness. Every time we go through the same process our approach is slightly different, our journey more consistent, our experience more complete.”

Join us for that last of this season's themed Tea Dance specials. This month, The Vintage Years celebrates the 1920's, 30's and 40's.

Come and try out your moves to a mix of Ballroom, Jive, Latin and Sequence dancing numbers for some good old-fashioned fun.

Live music will be provided by American jazz singer Kai Hoffman and her vintage band Kai’s Cats.

The beautiful 1930's Borough Hall has played host to Tea Dances for several decades and is the perfect setting for an afternoon of socialising, live music and dancing.   

There will be tea, cake and a raffle draw!

From a parade led by Paraiso School of Samba, there will be free dance performances and open workshops all day. From Flamenco to Bollywood - everyone can take part. The event ends with an official World record event for the largest Zumba class in aid of a UK Charity (Harris Hospiscare).

Magpie Dance, presents its first outdoor performance of a brand new work created in collaboration with Re:Bourne, inspired by Matthew Bourne's enchanting adaptation of the classic Tim Burton fairytale Edward Scissorhands.
