Greenwich Dance were absolutely thrilled to be awarded the Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards in the category of Tourism and Culture last Friday at a glittering awards ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Greenwich sponsored by U+I.

The competition was strong as we were nominated alongside our great friends Greenwich Media Ltd. (Maritime Radio) and Tramshed as well as cultural powerhouses Royal Museums Greenwich and The O2 and restoration company Hall Restoration Ltd.

London City Airport sponsored the award and Greenwich Dance were absolutely blown away by the recognition of the hard work that has gone into the last eighteen months of our remodelling.

Said CEO, Melanie Precious,
“This award means so much to us at Greenwich Dance. Thank you to the judges for the recognition, to our funders for believing in us, our board for supporting us, our audiences, participants, artists and cultural friends for being a part of our family and most of all to my amazing team – both in the office and in the studio – for working so tirelessly over this last 18 months.

We now have 8 free classes for young people across the borough, we are touring to 5 community centres with a performance programme designed to address loneliness, social cohesion and cultural inequality, we have a thriving events programme, a burgeoning schools programme, a growing artistic family with whom we work closely to design projects and an exciting upcoming festival which will bring two exceptional dance companies to the streets of Woolwich and Eltham.

There is so much potential for culture and business to come together to make positive change and I’m so looking forward to building a dancing Greenwich together.”

Greenwich Dance also want to congratulate the other nominees and winners on the day, including our friends and partners Champions4Change (who won Best of Business in the Wellbeing category) and Village Green Grocers, based next to us here at Charlton House, who won High Street Retailer.
