Eltham CultureFest

Posted on:

Thanks to invaluable support from the Royal Borough of Greenwich and English Heritage, Greenwich Dance are delighted to present a brand new cultural celebration as part of Royal Greenwich Festivals: Eltham CultureFest.

Taking place on Sunday 14th October from 10.30 – 16.00, the festival takes its inspiration from the world cultures found within our home Borough - bringing together professional artists and local community performers for a lively afternoon of dance, theatre, art and music for all the family.

A highlight of the day will be our Cultural Exchange, hosted by Jennifer Sims of the Bob Hope Theatre. This special participatory event, set in the Great Hall of Eltham Palace, will celebrate local communities that meet around the borough. We have some inspirational groups and individuals, from Eltham and beyond, joining us to share the music, dance and theatre that they make together. Do check our website for the full line up!

Other events not-to-be missed include special guests The Chineke! Junior Orchestra with an orchestral homage to Greenwich-based, 18th century British composer of African descent, Ignatius Sancho. Sally McKay, a long-standing artist friend of Greenwich Dance will be gathering audience together to document the day using drawing materials and actor TJ Jones has been working with Eltham Library to animate stories through play suitable for both the young and old. Games from around the world will be found dotted around the gardens and the day will come together in a colourful finale performed by the South Asian-inspired dance theatre company Nutkhut.

Come and be part of our cultural celebration!
