Take to the floor and learn the steps to all your favourite Ballroom and Latin numbers, as seen on Strictly Come Dancing. Choreographer to the stars and Ballroom expert, Thomas Michael Voss will guide you through the Rhythm Foxtrot, Slow Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Slow Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Paso Doble and Jive.
These fun, lively and dynamic classes help improve confidence, posture, co-ordination and balance and you get to meet like minded people who share a love for music and dance. Everyone is welcome and no partner is needed, as we will pair up and rotate in the class.
This course offers three progressive levels:
This is for everyone and the class will run from 18.25–19.25. At this level you will be working on dance hold, posture, basic steps, different rhythms, directions and movement, using simple basic routines and rhythms. (ISTD equivalent: Social Dance Level)
More experienced students can join this level at 19.35–20.35, using the beginner's class knowledge and building it up progressively, moving on to technique and more advanced choreography. It is recommended to have done at least 2 or 3 terms of the beginners level class beforehand or have some previous dance experience. (ISTD equivalent: Pre-Bronze)
This takes place at 20.40–21.40 for experienced and confident students who would like to take it up a notch and gain a correct understanding and use of ballroom techniques, more intricate steps and figures as well as fuller, longer routines and possibly even to prepare to take their ISTD Bronze exam, but that is not compulsory. You will be working to improve all aspects of your dancing including performance skills and the quality of movement in space. (ISTD equivalent: Bronze/Silver)
