Maria Ghoumrassi

Maria da Luz Ghoumrassi is a dancer, choreographer and educator working through multidisciplinary techniques from around the world to develop Intercultural Awareness Performance. She was in the original cast of The Lion King as ensemble and dance captain, working with Garth Fagan Dance. Previously in Kokuma Dance Company under the direction of Patrick Acogny, she had the opportunity to work with Flora Thefaine, Germaine Acogny and various dances from the African Diaspora. She continues to find inspiration through professional development and collaborations with various artists Sharon Ama Wray, Urban Bush Women, Judith Sanchez Ruíz among others.
Her research into the relationship between body, mind, spirit and identity has led to the development of her current investigation on the role of women in society.
She regularly teaches for Greenwich Dance, The Place and Trip Space.
