From Greenwich With Love, devised and choreographed by Mathieu Geffré of RendezVous Dance and presented by Greenwich Dance, celebrated feelings of love and connection – something so many of us had felt deprived of during an achingly painful year of enforced isolation.
The show was made following a call out across our social media channels for love stories from the community. Mathieu then held interviews with contributors of the stories to find out more about their first dates and romantic entanglements, and used this material in rehearsal to craft four duets. The show was designed to be inclusive and celebrate LGBTQIA+ relationships as well as straight love and therefore included same sex couplings.
One of the interviews Matthieu held was with photographer Chris Nash. He spoke about how he had met his wife Ragnhild Olsen – a loyal and devoted member of the Greenwich Dance staff team since 2011, and someone who had seen the organisation through a painful transition.
The subsequent duet was performed to Ragnhild and Chris in a preview of the work in the gardens of Charlton House as part of a surprise celebration in honour of Ragnhild’s time with Greenwich Dance as she left for pastures new.
