1. Richard Chappell Dance - Still Touch
This timely reimagining of Richard Chappell’s 2018 work, Still Touch explores the weight felt on the body when a person is denied human contact and the lightness we can find through our connections with people. Filmed by Daniel Martin, the work sees dancers Sharol MacKenzie and Faye Stoeser perform alongside two human sculptures by renowned artist Anna Gillespie to a score by Samuel Hall.

2. Quang Kien Van - Triptych
Triptych is a new trio of short films by choreographer Quang Kien Van reflecting on experiences of lockdown, quarantine and Iisolation that became ubiquitous in 2020 and continues to this day. Watch all three films on YouTube. Here’s the first one to get you started:

3. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre - Black Renaissance: Alvin Ailey & Cry
In this Black Renaissance clip, Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland celebrates dance and Alvin Ailey, a choreographer and dancer, who unapologetically broke rules and barriers and created a legacy of breathtaking art in the process. Watch the full YouTube original celebrating black culture.

4. BalletBoyz - Yes
Directed and produced by Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, Yes features former company dancer Matthew Sandiford and a young man called Andre who was a student at a local school for children and young people with special education needs. Andre and Matthew struck up a very interesting relationship during the company’s annual education programme at the school and formed a very strong bond through movement.

5. The Joffrey Ballet Academy - B O R D E R S
“B O R D E R S” by choreographer Chanel DaSilva imagines the boundaries—both literal and figurative—that people place on themselves and others. DaSilva challenges the audience to look at how they separate themselves from others in the world, whether through physical means or psychological ones.
