This year the annual festival of youth dance is taking place online. Take a look at the highlights from Saturday’s South East region platform. Friday’s highlights are also available to view on South East Dance’s YouTube channel.

This film from 2015, profiles South African dancer and choreographer Gregory Maqoma, who discusses his history, art and what inspires him.

3. Alt Take - Soleil Pâle

Soleil Pâle is an art project between Hania Rani, Neels Castillon and dance duo Alt Take, based on a shift towards improvisation and spontaneity. The creative process was a desire to return to the joy of observing “here and now”, with no plans for the future.

4. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater - Ella at Home

5. New York City Ballet - Thank You New York

A heartfelt homage to the city we call home, Justin Peck’s Thank You, New York, features NYCB dancers Christopher Grant, Sara Mearns, Georgina Pazcoguin, and Taylor Stanley and is set to a specially recorded version of Chris Thile’s eponymous song. This one has quite a long introduction, so skip to 4 mins in if you just want to get to the dance!
