Greenwich Dance is thrilled to announce its podcast, Talking Moves will return for a third series later on in the year. The podcast, fronted by Melanie Precious, CEO of Greenwich Dance, brings dance artists together in a round table format to discuss what moves them, and offers audiences the chance to connect with topical themes and issues within the dance world.

The current series of Talking Moves has been centred around toolkits for dancers. The most recently released episode sees dance artist Seeta Patel and choreographer Wayne Parsons discuss the relationship between organisations and artists. This will be followed by dramaturg Lou Cope and independent artist Jeanefer Jean-Charles who delve into the often-taboo subject of money. The final episode of the current season will be a conversation between Cath James, Artistic Director of South East Dance, and Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp CBE, who will discuss their experiences of developing careers both on and off stage.

Previous episodes have seen hip hop dancer and innovator Ivan Blackstock discuss working as a multidisciplinary artist across music, fashion and design with director and choreographer Katie Green, choreographers Gary Clarke and Tamsin Fitzgerald talked about the business of building a team, performer Andrew Gardiner and choreographer Charlotte Edmonds delved into the resilience of body and mind, and Ben Duke, co-founder of Lost Dog and socially conscious artist Rhiannon Faith compared notes on the necessity of making work for digital audiences under the impact of COVID-19.

Since launching in October 2020, Talking Moves has welcomed 24 artists to discuss an array of topics over 12 episodes, totalling almost 500 minutes of lively discussion all about dance. With over 1,100 downloads to date, the podcast gives a unique insight into the industry, putting artists at the centre of the debate and providing a way for their voice and ideas to be heard.

Series three will focus on making and creation in various contexts, and will launch in spring 2021.

All episodes of Talking Moves can be found on our Digital Stage, where you will find transcripts and more information about our guests.
