A new home for Greenwich Dance

Greenwich Dance are delighted to announce that we have a brand new home! This week we moved into Charlton House, a Jacobean country house steeped in history, located within easy reach of the many communities and wards of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It’s a beautiful setting in which to base an organisation such as Greenwich Dance which has creativity and the community at its heart.

The move is thanks to the accommodating and friendly staff at Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust (RGHT) who have offered us Sir Adam Newton’s bedroom as our office space! But there won’t be much sleeping going on….we are too busy planning events for next week (such as our Riverside Ballet Class – details below) and activity for the the Autumn.

Based here at Charlton House we have access to beautiful spaces for class, projects and performance which include The Old Library and The Charlton Assembly Rooms as well as the grounds and gardens. We are thrilled to be able to re-launch our popular morning classes for professional dancers from September (keep checking the website for details). We will also be bringing our over 60’s performance company Dancing To The Music of Time back home, which for the past few months has been kindly accommodated by Greenwich and Lewisham Young People’s Theatre at the Tramshed in Woolwich.

The move marks the beginning of a new way of working for us where classes, courses, projects and performance making will be sited across the borough. Greenwich Dance and Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust also plan to develop more opportunities for dance to animate Charlton House and for potential joint approaches to outreach.

Watch this space…
