Greenwich Dance believes that dancing is one of the best ways to stay healthy. It keeps us physical and active - using holistic approaches to movement using the whole body and all of our muscle groups. It helps us to build confidence and self esteem through the accomplishment of new skills, it's fun and it offers us an outlet for our creativity.

Perhaps most importantly dance brings people together from a range of backgrounds and connects them through a shared experience… and there’s no reason why that should stop during lockdown or social distancing! That’s why we have reimagined our programme to bring you a range of online classes to keep us all active, creative and connected at a time when that feels so very important.

Our Classes

All classes are taught by our team of incredible talented artists who each have a huge wealth of teaching experience and are skilled at making everyone feel welcome – whether you are paid to dance as a professional or someone who dances when nobody is watching! And if you have never danced a step in your life before fear not – you are even more welcome to our dancing family as here you will be supported and your creativity nurtured. We believe that you can be you when you dance whatever your age, background or ability (as does our youth company member Priscilla who came up with that very slogan that we have now adopted as our own).

Moving Online

Our artists are getting used to dancing and teaching online, as you are too, so bear with us as we navigate through this lockdown and keep feeding back to us what you need and how we can improve and together we will make it through this!

Adult classes

Greenwich Dance runs a variety of adult evening classes - usually taking place at Charlton House but until further notice these will be delivered online via Zoom. Check out the selection and create your way through the crisis with dance... staying fit, connecting with others and exploring your creativity! Classes are drop in as we know that it may feel hard to commit - but teachers will love to see familiar faces so do pencil the slot in your diaries and visit us each week if you can.

Youth classes (8-19 years)

NRgDance is a FREE youth dance activity programme brought to you by Greenwich Dance. Taking its inspiration from hip hop, street and contemporary the programme brings our talented NRgDance artists directly to you. For the summer term we will be basing our programme in school across the borough so keep an eye out to see if you school is involved. The programme is designed for young people of all genders and abilities - offering a range of skills to improve confidence, physical health and mental well-being in children and young people across the UK and beyond. Tasks can be adapted for those with limited mobility.

Over 55's

Dancing to the Music of Time is our weekly creative dance session for over 55's which extends into an optional rehearsal where the group collaborate on the making of movement material for performance. Dance artist Maria Ghoumrassi has developed a version of the class suitable for online delivery - open to anyone (and any age) who would like to stay active and creative. Classes run twice weekly and participants are invited to attend one or both. At a time when physical contact is no longer possible (shown so beautifully in the image opposite) we can find ways to be there for eachother virtually.

Arts Award for Individuals and Youth Groups

Greenwich Dance has created two Arts Awards activity packs to help develop creativity in children. Offered FREE to Greenwich residents, these distance learning activities encourage children to go at their own pace to learn about the arts and spark curiosity.

Participants will receive support from Greenwich Dance and weekly Arts Award Q&A’s ‘Keeping in Touch’ sessions will be set up so you can have all your questions answered.
