1. FUBUNATION - Ruins (Friday Late at V&A)
FUBUNATION bring their performance of ‘Ruins’ to the galleries of the V&A, exploring the balance between conflict, vulnerability and co-dependency. The piece addresses the myth of masculinity as it’s felt within the Pan-African diaspora: by creating a space where the black male figure is more visible and honestly represented, it gives powerful testimony to the generational trauma inherited by men from marginalised groups.

2. American Ballet Theatre - Gabe Stone Shayer & Alicia Keys PAS DE DEUX
American Ballet Theatre launches PAS DE DEUX, a limited, four-episode documentary series exploring the intersection of dance and other diverse art forms. Produced by Oscar®-winning Little Monster Films, each PAS DE DEUX episode sets the stage for two artists to delve into each other’s process and craft in intimate conversations that culminate in new artistic creations. Created by ABT Soloist Gabe Stone Shayer, PAS DE DEUX takes viewers into the homes and workspaces of each dancer and collaborator (in this case Alicia Keys), allowing these diverse creators the opportunity to connect virtually for an exchange of ideas.

3. Akram Khan Company - XEN
Sadler’s Wells commissioned Associate Artist Akram Khan to create a short film, XEN, inspired by XENOS, his final full-length solo which received its UK premiere at Sadler’s Wells in May 2018. XEN is a reimagined version of Akram Khan’s performance for the screen, and echoes XENOS’ evocation of the shell-shocked dream of a colonial soldier in the context of the First World War.

4. BirdGang Dance Company - SHADE
Shade is Simeon Qsyea and Lamar Johnson’s 2015 dance collaboration, shot in Toronto Canada. Simeon was working on BBC’s new show “Taking the next step” with Kimberly Wyatt & John Partridge when he met Lamar Johnson. Lamar who is a big star from the hit show “The Next Step” found a common interest with Simeon’s work & they immediately hit off and knew they had to create something together.
