For Familes, Ages 5yrs+
Book nowDiscover the secrets of Greenwich Park with our Family Story Walks. You and your clan will be guided by a dance artist who will explore themes from key historical figures and exciting moments from the park’s history. We meet at a new location in the park each week, learning about tales of some of its famous neighbours.
6 May – King James I.
13 May – John Flamsteed, the 1st Royal astronomer.
20 May – Queen Caroline.
27 May – Ignatius Sancho, former enslaved African, composer and 1st African to vote in the UK.
3 June – Olaudah Equiano, former enslaved African and writer.
10 June – Phillis Wheatley, former enslaved African and poet.
What to expect:
– Move and dance outdoors as a family.
– Explore themes of key historical figures.
– Listen and move to music.
– Create and play.
Attendance is free but places must be booked in advance.
We recommend this class for people aged 5+ and their adults. Individual adults without children are also welcome to attend. Please note that we do introduce some themes of Black history, slavery, the monarchy, sexuality and religion in some of the walks.

Who's Who
Maria da Luz Ghoumrassi
Dancer, choreographer, educator and movement director
Maria da Luz Ghoumrassi works through multidisciplinary arts to develop intercultural performance and has extensive experience working with a diversity of groups ranging from early years to older dancers, including performers and people with disabilities.
She was in the original cast of The Lion King and has performed with various companies including TV work. She has recently performed for Tate Modern and The London College of Fashion.
She has worked for Greenwich Dance for over 10 years as artistic director of our Performance Company for Adults, Lead artists for our Dance for Wellbeing programme, Maria also delivers professional and community classes.
