Gallions Park Picnic. Outside in a park, a groups of adults and children hold hands as if in a procession. Everyone is smiling

Come along to Gallions Park for a fun family day out! Grab your picnic blanket and a scotch egg or two and enjoy an afternoon of performance from local community groups.

Greenwich Family Arts Festival presents The Rascally Diner – a show that gently explores food provenance, sustainability and healthy eating in a silly, song-filled and riotous performance for humans aged 5+.

We will also be joined by professional dance company Just Us Dance Theatre who will perform Born to Protest, a hip hop dance experience by choreographer Joseph Toonga. The seven strong company perform en masse to a hearth-thumping soundtrack of hip hop beats and voice over. There will also be the chance to learn some of their techniques and hone your skills in workshops led by the company.

And if that’s not enough, you can also get a glitter tattoo or have your face painted by Em’s Fun Faces!

What to expect

Our Summer in the Park Picnics are intended to be social gatherings with entertainment suitable for all of the family. There will be a main stage area plus other tents and stalls featuring local community groups and family activities such as games, crafts or face painting. Many of the acts on the main stage will be repeated so you can drop by at a time convenient throughout the day. They are relaxed and informal, you do not need a ticket and will not be expected to be quiet or be seated. Applause for the performers is always welcome!

What to bring

Do bring a picnic, blanket or chairs. If the weather is warm, bring a parasol and remember to put on your sunscreen and a hat. Alcohol is permitted but we ask that you drink responsibly.

Wet Weather

This event takes place outdoors and as we can’t rely on the British weather to be kind to us all of the time, we suggest following us on Twitter or Facebook to find out the latest news on our wet weather plans.

Refreshments

Feel free to bring your own refreshments. An ice cream van will be on site selling Mr Whippy, cold drinks and ice lollies.

Facilities

Toilet facilities are available.
