GD Collective. The Greenwich Dance performance company is dancing in a sunny park on an outdoor stage

GD Collective is Greenwich Dance’s performance company for adults of all abilities, bringing together creative ideas for the stage. We meet weekly on Tuesday evenings in the brand new studios based at The Nest, overlooking Southmere Lake, just a short walk from the Elizabeth Line at Abbey Wood.

For the Autumn term, we return to the studio and will focus on our movement technique. We will explore new ideas for future performances and work towards an informal, end of term sharing.  The collective will decide on new work, specifically for non-traditional dance spaces and for our outdoor ‘Summer in the Park’ festival programme later in the year. It is important you can commit to as many dates as possible.

Expect to work collaboratively and grow ideas to create movement material with like-minded individuals. Spring and Summer Term will move into creation periods.  Initial weeks of term will explore ideas, with a research and development period of 3 weeks. Then we move into a creation period of approximately 4 weeks, then a further 3 weeks to rehearse and refine the work created, before sharing our ideas in December and ultimately creating work for the year ahead in our Summer in the Park Season in June and July.

What to expect

Each week we will;

  • Take part in a movement class including a warm up and learning technique
  • Play and improvise with movement ideas
  • Create and share
  • Appreciate and feedback

The collective work on ideas that can be performed, however, if you prefer not to perform, this is ok! There are many other ways you to take part and still be part of the process. You can support in the creation process and on the day of the performances, come along as an audience member.

We have a pick you own price structure in place so that everyone can access our sessions. If you can afford to pay, please do. This helps us keep classes at low cost or FREE for those who need it.
